GOOD: ALEX DELTON

It’s unfortunate any time the bell rings because of injury, but you still have to answer it. Alex Delton did just that. He finished with 79 rushing yards on 12 carries, for a 6.6 yard per carry average while nobody else on K-State got over 4.4 yards per carry.

  • The quarterback Delton, who was replacing Jesse Ertz, finished with four yards on nine carries. Delton was, without a doubt, a spark for the KSU offense.

Delton’s passing wasn’t near as crisp as he finished with two completions on five attempts for 30 yards. I can attribute some of that to rust and being new, however, it’s also something that must be cleaned up going forward.

    GOOD: D.J. REED’S PASS DEFENSE

D.J. Reed continues to be one of the best players every time he steps on the field. On Saturday, he finished with an interception on the Longhorn’s first pass as well as two other pass deflections.

Despite being only five feet and nine inches tall, Reed is already starting to garner draft interest as one site has him as the ninth cornerback in his class. He continues to be a calming influence and his ability to shut down one side of the field continues to help cover up other spots in the defense.

Unfortunately, when the team loses, we need to get past the “good” portion and dive into what needs improvement.
