Wichita State Shockers: Expectations and concerns for 2017-2018 season
By Eric Hogan
Number Two – Conner Frankamp
Last year was truly the first year that Conner Frankamp seemed comfortable on the basketball court after a difficult beginning to his college career. He started out at KU and then transferred to Wichita State to play in front of his hometown crowd.
The Wichita native is poised to have a breakout season and could easily be among the top three-point shooters in all of college basketball, shooting a solid 44% from behind the arch last year.
He will need to step up as a leader as one of five seniors on the team, and will most likely be running point until Shamet is healthy.
It will be interesting to see how Coach Marshall utilizes Frankamp as a good ball handler, but I’ve noticed that he is better in the number two spot and can shoot lights out when he’s hot. Frankamp can often be a streaky shooter but stepping up as a senior leader on this team should help him to be a more consistent scoring threat and go-to guy on the outside.
