Kansas City Royals: Players of the Year for 2017 Season
ROYALS PLAYER OF THE YEAR: NUMBER 3 – MIKE MOUSTAKAS
- Slash Line: .272/.314/.521
- Home Runs: 38
- RBI: 85
- Runs: 75
- Doubles: 24
Appearing in 148 games and taking 555 at bats, Mike Moustakas showed everyone that he is worthy of a big contract in free agency. Moustakas broke the single season record for home runs in Royals history and made it to his second All-Star Game of his career.
Moustakas’ 38 home runs proved that he truly can be that power hitter that the Royals wanted him to be.
Moose also got to partake in the Home Run Derby, which was the first time a Royal got to do so since 1991. He was eliminated in the first round, but that was probably for the best, as sometimes the derby can mess up a guy’s swing.
Moustakas’ 38 home runs proved that he truly can be that power hitter that the Royals wanted him to be when they drafted him second overall in 2007. The third baseman was having one hell of a season until he was hit by a pitch against Detroit.
That hit by pitch slowed Moose down considerably, but he still ended the year with nearly 40 home runs and a batting average of .272. Mike Moustakas should be getting a nice contract this offseason as a result of all his hard work in 2017.
