Salvador Perez is always going to be in consideration for best player when it comes to the Royals. For one, he’s always out there getting it done behind the dish and has a smile on his face while doing so. The guy is a fan favorite and it’s not hard to see why.

[Perez] started his fifth consecutive All-Star Game and hit the most home runs in his career.

I have a friend whose fiancé is a diehard Cubs fan and he always dogs on the Royals (he lives in St. Louis, so he’s got it pretty tough in life). One time I asked him if he had anything nice to say about the Royals and his response was, “Salvy’s awesome.” So there you have it.

Anyway, Perez had another great year in Kansas City. He started his fifth consecutive All-Star Game and hit the most home runs in his career. His previous home run high was 22, which he set last year.

The catcher saw less action this year, appearing in 129 games and 471 at bats, but he still made it a known fact that he’s the best catcher in all of Major League Baseball. Hopefully Perez will be spending his entire career in Kansas City, but with a rebuild potentially on the horizon, could he be trade bait in a few years? Let’s hope not.
