WHAT WENT WRONG IN 2017 – ST. LOUIS SWEEP

I hate the St. Louis Cardinals with a fiery passion, so it wasn’t exactly a good time watching my Royals get swept by them in August. Not only did the Royals get swept in a four-game series, but it was always in some excruciating way.

The bullpen blew game after game, and of course, we had that damn rally cat saga going around after Yadi Molina belted a grand slam to give St. Louis another victory. I sat through a lot of years watching the Royals get beat by the Cardinals. It was nice having these last few years to say “HAHAHA SUCK IT ST. LOUIS”, but this year brought me right back to those old days.

I mentioned on the last slide how the scoreless streak was when I really lost faith in this Royals team making it to the postseason, but getting swept by the Cardinals was the beginning of it for me. St. Louis ended up getting eliminated from playoff contention even later in the season than Kansas City did, so at least this wasn’t a horrible team sweeping the Royals.

Still… When the Royals fell to the Cardinals and lost in humiliating fashion night after night, I couldn’t help but think that the season was over.
