SIT ‘EM #2
The only reason why I’m not crazy about Doug Martin in this game is because we don’t know what type of player he’ll be. Martin is coming off of a four-game suspension and fans haven’t seen the Bucs running back in action since December 18th, 2016.
Martin truly is a hit or miss type of player. There were times early on in his career when he recorded nearly 60 fantasy points and other weeks where he’d lay an egg. He has the ability to be one of the best in the league, but tends to struggle to stay on the field.
If you had Martin on your team and have been patiently waiting for him to come off suspension, I’d wait another week. The Patriots run defense actually wasn’t awful against Carolina, holding them to less than 100 yards on the day. Yes, New England held a Carolina offense ran by Cam Newton to less than 100 yards on the ground. I’d say that’s impressive.
Doug Martin could also be competing for playing time with Jacquizz Rodgers, who had a nice game last week against the Giants. Rodgers had 16 carries for 83 yards. He has one touchdown on the year.
