B+. . K. Kansas City Chiefs. HARRISON BUTKER

How many casual Chiefs fans were watching the game last night and were thinking, “Who the hell is that?” whenever Harrison Butker first appeared on the screen. Butker’s nerves showed early on, as he missed a 46-yard field goal try that would have tied the game at ten heading into the half.

It would have been easy for Butker to have let that first miss get to him and effect his night, but he didn’t let it.

Chiefs fans had to be thinking that the missed field goal would come back to bite them. How could it not? We were used to nearly an automatic three points with Cairo Santos for the last few years and now were introduced to someone entirely new who we knew nothing about.

Butker (or “ButtKicker.com” as Andy Reid referred to him as) redeemed himself throughout the night, connecting on his next three field goal attempts. His biggest moment of the night, however, was hitting what would be the game-winner from 43 yards out.

It would have been easy for Butker to have let that first miss (which was his first ever attempt in the NFL) get to him and effect his night, but he didn’t let it. He let the nerves settle in and he was the difference maker in this game.

I couldn’t give him an A due to the early miss, but a B+ is still a solid grade for a rookie kicker in his first ever NFL action.
