Kansas City Chiefs: Five Things To Watch

#2 Kirk Cousins vs Chiefs Streaky Secondary

Despite bundles of interceptions last Sunday against the Chargers, the Chiefs secondary has shown periods of streaky defensive play. Marcus Peters is a man of his own, but players such as Terrance Mitchell, Phillip Gaines, and Daniel Sorensen have only average coverage.

The play of Mitchell and Gaines Monday night will be an interesting development.

Mitchell did haul in two interceptions in week three, but beyond that lies inconsistent secondary performances. At times it seems there is easy deep connections between the opposing team’s quarterback and a wide receiver.

Bob Sutton and the defense have an evident challenge Monday night. Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins owns a 105.3 QBR, with a 68% completion rate. Along with his high completion rating, comes a 5:1 touchdowns to interception ratio. Cousins tore up the Raiders secondary earlier in the week.

Watch for Cousins to target Mitchell and Gaines, especially on Monday night. The play of Mitchell and Gaines Monday night will be an interesting development.
