BAD: OFFENSIVE LINE

This offensive line struggled once again, barely protecting Alex Smith throughout the game. He was sacked five times and had limited protection. It was frustrating to say the least.

With the AFC West being “Pass Rush City”, the Chiefs offensive line has to get better.

Melvin Ingram had the offensive line’s number, bursting through for three sacks on Smith. Joey Bosa and Corey Liuget each had half a sack while Chris McCain had one as well. The line had very little answer to the Chargers pass rush and it showed, as Smith was getting crushed all game long.

I had high hopes for this offensive line heading into the season, but they’re really struggled so far. Smith was already been sacked 12 times in just three games and that simply won’t cut it for a playoff contending team. This line has good players, but something isn’t working.

With the AFC West being “Pass Rush City”, the Chiefs offensive line has to get better. The Broncos and Raiders are still on the schedule (two games a piece) and the Chargers will be heading to Kansas City for a late season match-up, so the scary pass rush teams are still on the horizon. Let’s get it together, o-line.
