GOOD: DEFENSE

It’s crazy that this game was so close because the Chiefs defense picked Philip Rivers off THREE times. The offense couldn’t get much done after the first quarter, but the defense kept the Chiefs in the lead.

The interceptions all came in the first half of the game and were on three of the Chargers’ first four drives. Terrance Mitchell had two and Marcus Peters had his first interception of the season. Don’t throw his way, Rivers.

The offense couldn’t get much done after the first quarter, but the defense kept the Chiefs in the lead.

The Chiefs had two sacks on the day, one by Justin Houston and one by Allen Bailey. Both guys being healthy have made a huge difference for this Chiefs pass rush, especially Houston, who looks like his 2014 form early on this season.

Travis Benjamin had a big day, going over 100 yards for the day, but the Chiefs kept Rivers from throwing a touchdown pass. They only gave up one touchdown and that was to Melvin Gordon. Pretty impressive for an offense that has a lot of upside like the Chargers’ does.

Way to be, defense. Way to be.
