Kansas City Chiefs: 5 Things To Watch

#2 Can the Chiefs defense tighten up?

For the past…well, almost forever, the strength of the Kansas City Chiefs has been their defense. Despite the offensive aggression we’ve seen early on this year, that is still the case. That means the job we’ve seen from the Chiefs defense so far isn’t going to be good enough for the 2017 season.

That’s not just my assessment on the situation. Justin Houston expressed the same sentiments after last week’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs defense will need to step up their efforts as the season goes on. So far this year, they have done a great job of stepping up late, but it needs to be a bettor effort throughout the game.

The Los Angeles Chargers have a dangerous offense with Philip Rivers at the helm. We saw last year that Rivers has a solid connection with Keenan Allen, and Melvin Gordon is an improved running back. That gives the Chargers plenty of weapons. The Chiefs defense will have to play at their best to shut them down.
