B. . . . PASSING DEFENSE

Considering the Eagles were rolling into town with Carson Wentz, Alshon Jeffery, Torrey Smith, and Zach Ertz, I’d say the Chiefs did a pretty good job at limiting them. Yes, Wentz threw for 333 yards (though it’s worth noting that his passing numbers went down to 299 with all of the sacks), but he looked flustered at times by this Chiefs pass rush.

This is the type of Chiefs defense that is going to allow a lot of yardage, but doesn’t give up points.

The Chiefs sacked Wentz SIX times with Chris Jones getting three of those, Justin Houston getting one, Dee Ford adding one, and new Chief/former Eagle Bennie Logan getting in on the action  as well. It was an amazing outing from this Chiefs pass rush, which tended to struggle last year at times.

The secondary did a decent job too, though I did knock this grade down to just a B due to that boneheaded play by Terrance Mitchell. He should have had the interception, but instead, Ertz was able to grab the football. Fortunately, Eric Murray was able to prevent Ertz from scoring.

This is the type of Chiefs defense that is going to allow a lot of yardage, but in the end, doesn’t give up points. That’s all that matters, right?
