Kansas State Wildcats Report Card

B+. . . . K-STATE DEFENSE

If people want to give the defense an “A-” to the Kansas State Wildcats defense, I’m willing to listen. The main point is, they are the only unit that’s free from being blamed for this loss.

They did exactly what I expected them to do. I thought they would be able to shut down Ralph Webb, which they did, to the tune of 21 carries for 46 yards. This would then force Vanderbilt into a passing attack that I didn’t think they would be able to execute that well. Considering K-State held them to 14 points, I think the defense accomplished that goal.

Kyle Shumur’s passing line doesn’t do justice to the defense. He went 14-23 for 205 yards and 1 touchdown with no picks. However, K-State was able to draw at least 3 holding calls and, again, holding this offense to 14 points should have resulted in a victory.
