GOOD: PASS DEFENSE

After last week’s debacle against a Missouri Valley Conference team, it was nice to see the Missouri defense not look atrocious. The Tigers pass defense was impressive on Saturday, only allowing Gamecocks quarterback Jake Bentley to throw for 187 yards and a touchdown.

Hayden Hurst of South Carolina had the best receiving stats for the Gamecocks, catching three passes for 69 yards and a touchdown. Hurst was the best weapon that South Carolina had on Saturday, but the Tigers did a good job preventing further damage.

I wasn’t expecting Missouri’s defense to buckle down and play better this week, but they really did. Well, at least the pass defense did a nice job. South Carolina had the ability to put up more yards through the air, but they were held to less than 200. I’d say that’s a good job by Mizzou.

Let’s hope the defense can keep this type of performance up for the rest of the season.
