BAD: TURNOVERS

One of the most important things for an offense to do is to take care of the football. Any time a defense can force a turnover and give their offense a chance to get back on the field, that gives that team momentum.

Kansas was giving Central Michigan momentum all day on Saturday, as it was turnover central in Lawrence. Peyton Bender threw two costly interceptions that eventually turned into Chippewa touchdowns.

It wasn’t a good look for the Kansas offense and Bender’s interceptions were pretty brutal. The worst thing any quarterback can do is to hand the football to the defense and let the opposition get another chance to put points on the board.

Bender is still finding his groove as a starter for the Jayhawks, but he has to limit the turnovers. He didn’t play terribly, but no touchdowns is an eye sore on the stat sheet next to those two picks.
