BAD: CHARLOTTE

It’s a cheap shot, I know, but stick with me. This was, by far, the worst team that K-State will face all year, even including KU (okay, another cheap shot.) and so, while I don’t want to pick on Charlotte, it does magnify every mistake made.

This type of opponent does not provide many challenges and so, when Kansas State faces one, they absolutely have to respond, because they simply may not get another challenge. It’s fun to see KSU blow out a team, but does it really matter against a nobody?

This type of opponent does not provide many challenges.

So when the kickoff coverage team screws up and allows a 66 yard return to the K-State 19, you would like to see your defense tighten up and at least force a field goal. Instead, the defense failed to pick up their teammates and allowed the 49ers quarterback, Hassan Klugh, to scramble for a 19 yard touchdown run two plays later.

It’s harsh to suggest a shutout is “expected”, but the 49ers shouldn’t have even had a touchdown.
