BAD: PENALTIES

There isn’t much to say here. As good of a game as this was for our Chiefs, they were getting flags thrown their direction all night long (cue Lionel Ritchie). The Chiefs ended the night with 15 penalties for a total of 139 yards. That’s unacceptable.

This is compared to the Patriots, who had just six penalties on the evening. There was a stretch where the Chiefs kept getting flagged time and time again and it was incredibly frustrating to watch. Stupid penalties can cost you games and hopefully the Chiefs are a little more disciplined throughout the season.

One of the worst penalties was the one on Travis Kelce for unsportsmanlike conduct. Kelce has drawn the attention of the referees after “towel gate” last season. He needs to cut down on doing anything that could draw flags in his direction because he’s definitely on watch with the refs.

This was the only thing that could really be considered as bad. The run defense allowed three touchdowns (all to Mike Gillislee), but for the most part, did a pretty good job. They weren’t good enough to be listed with the good, but not bad enough to be listed with the bad.

So here we are. Penalties are bad, mmmkay kids?
