TOP 15 DEEP SLEEPERS TO TARGET IN 2017 – NUMBER 12: EVAN ENGRAM

Rookie tight ends are tough to rely on when it comes to fantasy football, but Evan Engram is a name that could be worth picking up this season. The biggest reason to believe in Engram is that Eli Manning is his quarterback and Manning hasn’t had a legitimate tight end to throw to in ages.

Engram was a huge pass catching threat during his senior year at Ole Miss. The tight end hauled in 65 receptions for 926 yards and eight touchdowns a year ago. If he can even deliver half of that production as a rookie, he’d jump to the top of the charts as far as NFL tight ends go, especially in fantasy football.

The biggest knock on Engram, however, is simply that he has a lot of competition in New York when it comes to getting Manning’s attention. There’s no debate that Odell Beckham Jr. is the best Giants receiver, but there’s also Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shepard in the Big Apple as well.

Manning will love throwing to Engram, but it’ll come in waves. He’ll have a big game here and there and will get no targets in other games. It’s just the inconsistency that comes with having a rookie tight end.
