TOP 15 DEEP SLEEPERS TO TARGET IN 2017 – NUMBER 14: JESSE JAMES

Ben Roethlisberger has a lot of targets in Pittsburgh and an often forgotten one is tight end Jesse James. James, a fifth round pick out of Penn State back in 2015, took a little bit of a step in year two, catching 39 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns.

This year, however, expect James to become a bigger asset for Roethlisberger and the Steelers. Sure, Pittsburgh has the likes of Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell, but James is going to become a more popular target for Big Ben.

The Steelers cut Ladarius Greene this offseason, but recently traded for Vance McDonald of the 49ers. McDonald isn’t exactly the answer to Pittsburgh’s prayers at the tight end spot, but he could beat James out on the roster.

Those two guys will be battling it out for the starting role and while McDonald could win it to start off, James will eventually swipe the job and become a big red zone target for Big Ben and the Steelers offense.

James will go undrafted in most leagues, but if he has a good first few games in Pittsburgh then he could become a more popular name on the waiver wire for sure.
