K-State football heads into the 2017 season with high hopes and will most certainly deliver a great year. On the way to that outstanding year, however, will be challenges. What games should fans circle on the calendar?

When looking at the Kansas State Wildcats‘ schedule, fans can automatically see two big games: Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. While those two games will be a major challenge for the Wildcats, there are other games that will pose problems for the K-State football program as well.

Let’s take a look at the five games on the Kansas State schedule this season that will be the toughest for KSU, starting with a non-conference opponent early in the season.

Toughest Games for K-State Football in 2017 – Number 5: at Vanderbilt

It was tough to choose between this game and the Texas Tech Red Raiders game, but my main reason for picking this one is simply that it’s an SEC team, right? Vanderbilt could pose a problem with a rushing attack that’s returning a solid running back in Ralph Webb. Webb finished fourth overall in rushing last year in the SEC.

Make no mistake though, this team in most cases is still projected to finish last in the SEC East, which according to Bleacher Report they will do just that. This is a trap game for sure and if the K-State offense can’t seem to get things going early, there could be some trouble.

Kansas State will win this game, but it might really be a mystery here. Close game? Ah, who knows. Guess we can find out when we find out, and fortunately for the fans, we get to watch this one on ESPN.
