SEPTEMBER CALL UPS – MIGUEL ALMONTE

Kansas City Royals fans have been waiting for Miguel Almonte to make it to the majors and stay put, but unfortunately, things just haven’t been clicking for the 24-year old as a major league pitcher.

Almonte seemed to be fine in the minors this year, but he’s still not ready to be a full-time big league pitcher.

Almonte has seen stints in the majors, debuting back in 2015. He had an ERA of 6.23 in 8.2 innings thrown that year. He did far worse in 2017, throwing just two innings and allowing three runs. That’s good for a 13.50 ERA.

As of now, Almonte is on the 60-day disabled list and very well could miss the remainder of the season. If that’s the case, then he obviously won’t be joining the Royals next month, but if somehow he makes a comeback, expect to see Almonte in Kansas City.

Almonte seemed to be fine in the minors this year, posting an ERA under two in both Omaha and in Northwest Arkansas, but he’s still not ready to be a full-time big league pitcher. Hopefully he figures it out next year and we can see him pitch well in the majors.

Until then, however, we’ll just have to keep being patient with Almonte.
