SEPTEMBER CALL UPS – JORGE SOLER

Last offseason the Royals made arguably one of the worst trades in franchise history when sending their All-Star closer to the Cubs in exchange for… Jorge Soler? Who’s that?

Soler went on to greatly disappoint in his first year as a Royal, but he wasn’t brought in to make an immediate impact. No, the Royals made that trade because Soler offered four years of club control and could be a power hitter in the lineup.

Soler went on to greatly disappoint in his first year as a Royal, but he wasn’t brought in to make an immediate impact.

Year one of Soler in KC resulted in the former Cub slashing .154/.245/.275 with two home runs and six RBI in 91 at bats. Soler bombed as a Royal in his first year with the team, but there are still three years left for the kid to prove himself, and that’s why he was brought here.

In the minors, Soler has been just okay. He hit a home run off of Clayton Kershaw the other day while Kershaw was making his rehab appearance, so that’s definitely good to see, even if it was in the minors. With that said, however, Soler is only batting .256 in Omaha, but has 21 home runs.

Jorge Soler, despite many Royals fans not wanting to see him, is going to be in Kansas City in a few days. You can count on it.
