The Kansas City Royals need to finish strong in these last few weeks of the MLB season. Fortunately, help is on the way, as September call-ups are just around the corner. Who could be on their way to help the boys in blue in the final month?

Every year, Major League Baseball allows every team to expand their roster from 25 players to 40. This comes in the month of September, so it’s often referred to as “September call-ups” among the team, media, and fans. If a player is already on the 40-man roster, then he should be making the trip to Kansas City.

If, however, a minor league player is not on the 40-man roster, then the Kansas City Royals have to move someone off of it in order to make room. It can be quite the confusing process, especially for just the casual baseball fan.

September call-ups are great because they give the team a little bit more breathing room, especially when it comes to the pitchers. Rather than sending Kelvin Herrera or another good reliever out in a blowout, the Royals could send one of their new call-ups to take those innings instead.

Three of the guys I have listed on here are injured at the moment, but I included them anyway because perhaps they could get called up later on in the season. You never know when they could get healthy again.

So, let’s take a look at which guys will be getting called up to the big leagues in 2017.
