FIVE COOLEST NICKNAMES FOR PLAYERS WEEKEND: NUMBER 2 – “THE DON”

Drew Butera is one of the coolest guys on the team and really seems to love playing in Kansas City, even if he is just the backup catcher. Butera loves showing off his Italian pride, playing with Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic and now, repping it on the back of his jersey.

Butera’s nickname is from The Godfather, which he explained his reasoning for picking the name was due to watching the film when asked what his nickname was. He also added in that he was Italian so it worked for him.

Butera could have gone with the easy choice of “Drew” for his nickname, which is what a lot of fans seem to refer to him as (I mean… it is his first name…), but it was cool to see him have fun with it and go with a movie name.

Hopefully being “The Don” for a weekend series will bring Butera luck both at the plate and behind the dish because the Royals need it for this series against Cleveland.
