SPENCER WARE

“Started From the Bottom” by Drake

When Jamaal Charles went down with yet another ACL injury in 2015, the Kansas City Chiefs were in deep dodo. They were already 1-4 at that point in the season and they needed a hero (no, that’s not the song choice here).

No one expected [Ware] to become one of their starting running backs, but the kid did just that.

Fortunately, Spencer Ware was on the team and he went on to rush for over 400 yards and had six touchdowns. The Chiefs, behind Ware’s brooding running style, ended the season with an 11-5 record and all was right in the world.

The reason why “Started From the Bottom” would be the perfect walk-out song for Spencer Ware is because he was looked over time and time again during his short time as a pro. He was a sixth round draft choice by the Seahawks in 2013 and eventually wound up with the Chiefs in 2015.

"Started from the bottom now we’re here Started from the bottom now the whole team here"

The main chorus of the song is a perfect depiction of what Ware went through when he got to Kansas City. No one expected him to become one of their starting running backs, but the kid did just that.

During that season, Ware sat behind Charles, Knile Davis, and Charcandrick West, and finally got the opportunity to prove himself. He and West became the tag team duo at running back and both guys received extensions as a result.

Ware now will head into his second season as the Chiefs opening week starter at running back. Livin’ the dream, man.
