PATRICK MAHOMES

“Worth It” by Fifth Harmony

While Patrick Mahomes isn’t a starter yet, things are definitely trending that way in the near future. The Chiefs traded up 17 spots to draft Mahomes this year and they didn’t do that for nothing. Alex Smith can be hangin’ tough all he wants, but eventually it’ll be Mahomes Time in Kansas City and people are excited for it.

Will this truly be a move for the ages or will it end in disappointment?

Mahomes will have a lot of pressure on him and that’s fair to say for sure. The Chiefs hadn’t drafted a quarterback in the first round since 1983 and things didn’t work out then. If Mahomes ends up being a bust, it’ll really devastate the fan base.

Fortunately, Mahomes has looked good during his preseason appearances, but that’s a very small sample size. When he finally takes the field as the full-time starter of the Kansas City Chiefs, he’s going to have a huge weight on his shoulders and he’ll likely feel the need to prove that he’s worth the hype.

With all of this in mind, it made too much sense for Mahomes’ walk-out song to be “Worth It” by Fifth Harmony. There’s no need to go into further detail of why I picked this song, as the title alone suggests why this is a fit.

Was it worth trading up 17 spots and giving up their 2018 first rounder to draft him? Will the Chiefs regret passing up on Deshaun Watson so that they could select Mahomes? Will this truly be a move for the ages or will it end in disappointment?

There’s a lot riding on Mahomes’ career and hopefully he is, indeed, worth it.
