Top 15 Rookies to Target in Fantasy Football: Number 15 – O.J. Howard

The only tight end to appear on this list is O.J. Howard, who the Tampa Bay Buccaneers added to their ranks in the first round this year. I really like Howard in Tampa Bay and think that he’ll do a fine job in their system.

While the Buccaneers saw great production from Cameron Brate a year ago, the need for a big, physical tight end was imminent, so they went out and grabbed Howard. This guy will be a great target for Jameis Winston and should be a nice weapon for the third year quarterback.

Howard will have a nice NFL career, but he might be inconsistent as a rookie, especially in fantasy football. The reason for this is that Tampa Bay has quite the array of offensive weapons at Winston’s disposal. He’ll have Brate, Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson, and now Howard as well. It could be tough for Howard to get a lot of points week in and week out.

While I like the idea of O.J. Howard becoming one of the better rookies this season, Brate will likely be the number one tight end and will get more of the targets. Rookie tight ends always tend to disappoint, so while I want to see Howard shine, don’t go after him until the last few rounds.
