Kansas football all-time receiving yards: 3. Willie Vaughn (2,266)

The Jayhawks didn’t make a lot of noise in the mid to late 1980s, but one guy who did was Willie Vaughn, who spent four years at Kansas and racked up 2,266 yards during that time. Vaughn really broke out during his senior year in 1988, totaling 39 catches for 819 yards and seven touchdowns.

Kansas won one game during that 1988 season, but Vaughn was a bright spot for sure. He hadn’t had nearly as much success during his first three seasons, never amassing more than 672 yards (which he did in 1987), but his senior campaign was enough to put him on the map.

It’s too bad that KU wasn’t better during Vaughn’s collegiate career, but he was arguably the best offensive player the team had. The best year for KU during Vaughn’s time there was in 1985 when they won six games. After that, they won five total over the next three seasons.

Even though he played for several bad KU squads, Willie Vaughn still sits third all-time in receiving yards for Kansas.
