Kansas Football: All-Time Leaders in Receiving Yards

Kansas football hasn’t been all that successful in recent years, but they have had some good wide receivers on their team during their history. Who leads the Jayhawks in receiving yards?

While Kansas football hasn’t given fans a whole lot to cheer for recently, the Jayhawks have had some fun players in seasons past. With college football season almost here, I thought it might be fun to go back in time and cover the all-time receiving yards leaders for the Jayhawks.

Some of these names might sound familiar, but others played for the team way back in the day. The most recent name on this list last played in Lawrence during the 2009 season, which goes to show the lack of production that KU has seen from its football team over the last decade or so.

So, without further ado, let’s get to the all-time leaders in receiving yards for Kansas football!

Kansas football all-time receiving yards: 15. David Verser (1,476)

David Verser played with the Jayhawks from 1977-1980 and the team only won a total of 11 games during that time. KU wasn’t good, but Verser was the lone bright spot for the crimson and blue.

Verser racked up 1,476 yards off of 77 receptions during his four years in Lawrence. He also found the end zone 11 times and also had a rushing touchdown on his resumé as well.

Verser was so impressive during his four years at KU that he was a first round draft pick in the 1981 NFL Draft, going tenth overall to the Cincinnati Bengals. He went on to have a fairly decent pro career, spending four years with the Bengals and also spending time with the Buccaneers and Browns.

His last NFL season was in 1987 with the Browns. Verser recorded three touchdowns in the NFL. He’s 15th all-time for the Jayhawks in receiving yards.
