Kansas City Chiefs: 10 Things To Watch Vs The Bengals
#4 Can Tyreek Hill Run A Full Route Tree?
It caught a lot of people by surprise when Alex Smith and Tyreek Hill hooked up on a 32 yard pass to start the Kansas City Chiefs first preseason game this year. With the Chiefs cutting Jeremy Maclin this offseason, there was a lot of concern over the makeup of the wide receiver position. One concern was whether or not Tyreek Hill could handle a full load at receiver.
While Tyreek Hill is definitely a big time playmaker, the Chiefs will need him to be much more in 2017. Hill will have to be the kind of player who can get open regularly. In order to do that, he’ll need to be able to run every route asked of a receiver. That’s a lot to digest for a guy with little experience at the position.
Fortunately, Tyreek Hill has a lot of natural ability that should help him at the receiver position. His routes won’t have to always be perfect. His speed and quickness will help in certain areas. However, the more he can get locked down early on, the better off the Chiefs offense will be.
