Fantasy Football Quarterbacks to Target in 2017 – Number 9: JAMEIS WINSTON

2016 Ranking: 16th

Heading into his third year in the league is Jameis Winston, the former number one overall pick out of Florida State. Winston took a nice step from his rookie year to his sophomore season in the pros, throwing for 4,090 yards and 28 touchdowns.

The interceptions still are an issue with Winston (as one of my fantasy teams learned first hand last year) as he threw 18 picks. He threw 15 interceptions as a rookie if that puts that into perspective at all.

I had Winston on my team last year in my two starting quarterback league and I had mixed reviews about the Bucs quarterback. There would be some weeks where Famous Jameis would tear it up and I’d be so glad that I took the risk in drafting him.

Then, there’d be some weeks where Winston would be downright awful and would cost me my match-up. Those were not good times for me.

For the most part, however, Winston was well worth having on my squad. He’s probably someone that people will be iffy of picking up simply due to how young he is, but Winston has shown that he can lead the Buccaneers to a winning record and he did so behind his big arm and his running ability.

Winston is a risky pick, but he should pay off in the end. If you get docked for interceptions, however, maybe let someone else grab him.
