#4 The Run Defense Looks Fixed
Apart from Alex Smith, the biggest target of criticism for last year’s Kansas City Chiefs playoff failure has been the run defense. That’s for good reason as Le’Veon Bell absolutely embarrassed the Chiefs in that game. However, things are looking much better in that area so far this year with a revamped group set to stop the run.
There has been some debate as to why the run defense struggled last year. Personally, I am of the belief that it has to do with Dontari Poe not commanding double teams like he used to. Teams were able to get away with chipping him and then moving on. That will not be the case with Bennie Logan in the middle.

The Chiefs will also have Chris Jones starting from day one this year, and the return of Allen Bailey to the mix. That should allow Kansas City to command double teams along the line of scrimmage, which will open holes for the linebackers to attack the ball carrier. So far it looks like that is exactly what is happening.
