Kansas City Chiefs: 10 Things From St Joe’s
#2 Alex Smith Is Stepping His Game Up
Despite having another year on his contract, it’s understood that Alex Smith’s tenure with the Kansas City Chiefs is coming to an end after 2017. One side story from this is that we really don’t know what to expect from Smith with his future on the line. So far he has shown a lot more aggressiveness than we’ve seen in the past.
It is no secret that Alex Smith is one of the most divisive players in team history. Considered by almost everyone to be a “game manager” (a term that can mean a lot of things), there is no denying that Smith is not an elite passer. However, with the Chiefs record of the past four years, it’s also clear that Smith is not hurting this team.
However, none of that really matters as we come into this year. So far, Alex Smith has been showing a bit more willingness to launch the ball downfield, including a nice strike to open the game last week against the 49ers. On the other hand, this is all practice so we have no idea if he’ll continue that in the regular season…let alone be any good at it.
