Kansas City Chiefs Stock Report

Stock Up: Chris Conley

Coming into this preseason, the Kansas City Chiefs had a very clear question mark at wide receiver. The Chiefs have rarely been a team that utilized their outside passing game much, but this year was especially a concern. No receiver on the roster has ever posted even 600 yards in a season. So Chris Conley definitely boosted his stock with a solid game on Friday.

Chris Conley was the leading receiver for the Chiefs on Friday night, posting 46 yards on two catches. However, his truly impressive feat was actually an 83 yard connection from Tyler Bray for a touchdown. That pass was called back on a very questionable pass interference call against Conley, but it was still impressive.

The Chiefs need Chris Conley to step up and be a solid #2 receiver to help spread defenses out. That has been a missing element for a long time in Kansas City. If Conley can provide Alex Smith with another solid target on the outside, the KC offense will be very dangerous this year. The early indications on that are looking good.
