Fantasy Football Tight Ends to Target in 2017 – Number 1: ROB GRONKOWSKI

2016 Ranking: 26th

Last year was not kind to Rob Gronkowski, at least as far as fantasy football goes. After two insanely good seasons, Gronkowski only appeared in eight games last year. He had just 25 receptions for 540 yards and three touchdowns.

Those totals gave Gronk owners just 97 points a year ago, which led to many of them (myself included) likely being afraid to take a chance on the big time tight end again this year. Not having my second round pick perform well really killed my season last year, but honestly… If there’s still a chance that I can draft him, I probably will. He’s that good.

If Gronkowski stays healthy, he’s easily the best player on your team. That’s the issue though. Health has always been Gronk’s one weakness, as he hasn’t started a full 16 games in a season since 2011.

Tom Brady loves throwing to Gronkowski, so if he’s on the field, he’s getting targets. Rob Gronkowski is the only tight end worth taking any higher than round three, but definitely be careful when making that choice. If he gets injured, you’ve spent a high round pick on a tight end while other people were grabbing wide receivers and the top quarterbacks.

At the end of the day though, Rob Gronkowski is absolutely worth a high draft pick because he can win your team games.
