The Kansas City Royals are in the midst of a four-game series with the across state St. Louis Cardinals this week. Royals fans shouldn’t forget about their rivalry with the Cardinals, even if a lot has changed recently.

Over the past few years, the I-70 Series hasn’t been a huge deal to Kansas City Royals fans or to St. Louis Cardinals fans. It used to be just another series victory that the Cardinals could throw back in Kansas City’s face, but now that the Royals have won a World Series more recently than St. Louis, the rivalry has died off a bit.

Huh, imagine that… The Cardinals not talking smack when they don’t have bragging rights. I’m so surprised. (Sarcasm)

While a lot of Royals fans currently loathe teams like the Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox, New York Yankees, or the Toronto Blue Jays (for the 2015 season alone), I’m here to say that for me, St. Louis is still public enemy number one. I HATE THEM.

The Royals and Cardinals might only play four games against each other each season, but man, I can’t STAND them! I grew up seeing Kauffman Stadium overrun by Cardinals fans every year and hearing all about “WE HAVE 11 WORLD SERIES BLAH BLAH BLAH”.

Well, when it comes to those 11 championships, former KC Kingdom writer Scott Dillon had a great response to that when he penned a letter to a naive Cardinals fans.

"That’s great that they’ve won 11 World Series’ titles. Eight of those came prior to the Royals were even in existence. There were also fewer teams to compete with then. But since 1985, the Royals and the Cardinals each have two World Series Trophies."

In your face, St. Louis!

Anyway, you’re probably wondering at this point why I have so much hatred for the St. Louis Cardinals. Well I’ll tell you why… Sit back, relax, and enjoy my rants directed at the Red Birds.
