Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp 2017 – Outside Linebackers

Winner: Justin Houston

He’s back and healthy, and that’s really all that Kansas City Chiefs fans wanted to know. You can break down whatever else you want about training camp right now, but this really does have to be the biggest news for the team right now. Justin Houston is a game changer when he’s healthy.

Justin Houston also made it particularly clear that nobody should be worried about him. Houston was adamant about his missed time over the past two seasons being the result of a single injury. He also made it clear he wants to be more dominant than ever. That’s a pair of very encouraging things to hear from your star pass rusher.

Loser: Tamba Hali

When he took to social media to voice his displeasure, Tamba Hali invited all sorts of criticism and scrutiny for training camp. However, the veteran pass rusher hasn’t been able to take the field yet. Hali, and the team, have both said that this was expected, but it still isn’t a great look for a guy who was talking about how healthy he was at the end of last year.

Even more to the point, Tamba Hali isn’t able to show anyone right now that he deserves starting play time ahead of Dee Ford. If Hali wants to be a bigger part of what the Chiefs are doing, then he has to show that he can shoulder his share of the load.
