Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp 2017: First week review

Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp 2017 – Inside Linebackers
Winner: Ramik Wilson
It appears the Kansas City Chiefs have finally seen something they like in Ramik Wilson. The third year linebacker is getting the starting reps next to Derrick Johnson right now, and has been getting some first string reps at Johnson’s spot as well. Wilson stepped up in the place of DJ last year when the star linebacker went down with an Achilles injury. It appears his work has paid off.
I still believe that Ramik Wilson is the eventual heir to Derrick Johnson. Playing next to the Chiefs captain isn’t his ideal position, but it gets Wilson playing time which is crucial to developing. That’s a huge step forward for him.
Loser: Justin March-Lillard
The starter next to Derrick Johnson last year, Justin March-Lillard not getting the bulk of starting reps so far is a bit of a surprise. The Chiefs are putting a lot of interest into this position battle, and so far things aren’t going well for the incumbent.
It’s never a good sign when the team is actively trying out every single option at your position. Justin March-Lillard can still win this job back, but he’s going to have to show that he deserves it. Clearly the Chiefs are looking for an answer here.
