Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp 2017: First week review

Kansas City Chiefs Training camp 2017 – Tight Ends
Winner: Travis Kelce
He remains king of his mountain for the Kansas City Chiefs tight ends, so Travis Kelce is the closest thing to a “winner” at the position right now. This is more of a default thing though as nobody else has done enough to show they deserve that kind of recognition.
Travis Kelce figures to be a focal point of the Chiefs offense this year. As long as there aren’t any other tight ends that are worthy of getting significant playing time, his opportunities won’t diminish at all. Kelce figures to have a fantastic year in 2017.
Loser: Demetrius Harris
This is going down as a loss for Demetrius Harris simply because he hasn’t put any distance between himself and the rest of the depth chart. That was going to be a key thing for him this offseson. The Chiefs need a reliable #2 tight end, and Harris is supposed to get first crack.
Gavin Escobar hasn’t shown enough to take the #2 job from Demetrius Harris yet, and Ross Travis is still very much a work in progress. So Harris is keeping his job by default for now. What needs to happen is for him to step up and put the competition to rest. It doesn’t appear that is happening.
