Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp 2017 – Quarterbacks

Winner: Patrick Mahomes

There was absolutely no doubt that Patrick Mahomes was going to be the darling of Kansas City Chiefs training camp this year. Every fan in Chiefs Kingdom is excited about the future of Mahomes in the NFL. He’s rewarded fans so far with some impressive showings early on.

Of course, the successes that Mahomes is having right now are being overblown, while the failures are being swept under. Chiefs Kingdom is still very much in the honeymoon phase with the rookie quarterback. He’ll be beyond reproach for a good while yet.

Loser: Tyler Bray

There may not be a more enigmatic player in Kansas City than backup quarterback Tyler Bray. He has virtually no playing time to his name, yet the Chiefs keep showing faith in him. Bray is still the top backup in KC right now, and is likely to remain so. However, that doesn’t mean he’s showing much.

The big thing here is that Tyler Bray has to show more than what he currently is. Otherwise the Chiefs will see no reason to pay him to do a job that Patrick Mahomes might not be any worse at. Bray needs to step it up over the next couple of weeks, and absolutely has to be solid in preseason games.
