Kansas City Chiefs: Young receivers making their mark early

Kansas City Chiefs Young Receivers
Demarcus Robinson – 2nd Year
When the Kansas City Chiefs drafted Demarcus Robinson in the 4th round of the 2016 NFL Draft, I was absolutely stoked. I immediately called Robinson a huge steal and projected him as the eventual #2 receiver for the Chiefs. Fast forward a year, and Robinson is now taking starting snaps in training camp.
More than just taking starting snaps, Demarcus Robinson has been making the most of his opportunities. He has been a solid performer throughout offseason workouts, and that has continued on the field in training camp. He’s showing the ability to win his routes, and the talent to consistently make plays. That’s a huge boost for the Chiefs if he can do it in real games.
Demarcus Robinson is still more potential than production though. The Chiefs essentially made 2016 a redshirt year for Robinson on offense. He got a few snaps late in the season, but for the most part was relegated to Special Teams play.
Robinson’s stats at Florida don’t tell the whole story on him. However, the game film shows a guy with some big play ability. There were a number of issues between Demarcus Robinson and the team, which is why he fell to the 4th round. If those issues have been resolved in KC (if they ever existed), then Robinson should be ready to contribute.
