REALLY OUT THERE CANDIDATES

This one will never happen, but MLB Trade Rumors did mention that the Oakland Athletics could be willing to trade Sean Manaea. The Royals sent Manea to Oakland in 2015 in exchange for Ben Zobrist, so could they now turn around and ask for him back?

"Manaea is pitching well right now and controlled for another five years, but A’s president Billy Beane could conceivably sell high on the lefty and rely on other young pitching assets."

I said this one was out there, didn’t I? The Royals would probably be saying good-bye to Raul Mondesi Jr. and several other key prospects if they wanted to make this deal. They sent Manea away two years ago and will have to live with the fact that he probably isn’t coming back to Kansas City.

Other guys in this category are Jacob deGrom, Michael Fulmer, and Marcus Stroman, all of whom are having nice years, but aren’t in the “up for grabs” category yet. I’d probably pee myself if the Royals got deGrom, but the Mets ace wouldn’t come cheap.

This slide was more of just to show you some of the really bizarre potential trades we could hear about, but probably won’t.
