J.A. HAPP (TORONTO BLUE JAYS)

3-6 record, 3.54 ERA, 1.246 WHIP (Free agent in 2019)

At 34 years old (and set to turn 35 in the middle of October), J.A. Happ is most definitely on the trade block for the Toronto Blue Jays, even if he doesn’t seem to be worried about relocating in a few weeks.

Despite his age, Happ has been a great starter over the last two and a half seasons. The Blue Jays have been one of the best teams in the American League the last two years, but are currently five games under .500 and tied for last in their division.

Toronto certainly isn’t out of it, but with Happ having another year of club control, trading him would have to be a lot more appealing to the Blue Jays front office now than it was before the bar was set in the Jose Quintana deal.

Happ would fit in wonderfully with a Royals rotation that could desperately use a fifth man. He’d even be more like a third or fourth starter for the Royals should they make the postseason. I’d like to see the Royals go after J.A. Happ, but there’s no guarantee that the Blue Jays will end up selling him, or anyone for that matter.
