JAIME GARCIA (ATLANTA BRAVES)

2-7 record, 4.55 ERA, 1.354 WHIP (Free agent in 2018)

One of the likeliest scenarios for the Royals is them trading for current Braves starter Jaime Garcia. Garcia is not having a great season with Atlanta, but he’s had success in recent years and very well could just use a change of scenery.

Garcia would be a rental, but he hopefully wouldn’t be very expensive. His stats aren’t mind blowing, which is likely why he won’t be as highly sought after as some of the other players listed, but he has postseason success and could bring that to the Royals rotation.

While a lot of people will want to pass on Garcia due to the over four ERA, he’d be an affordable option to bring to Kansas City. I don’t see the Braves expecting a top level prospect for someone like Jaime Garcia, which is perfect considering that the Royals don’t have much to offer in that department.

Something big to consider here, however, is that the Braves might not quite be out of it yet. Sure, they’re nearly ten games back of the Nationals in the NL East race, but they have a very similar record to the Royals. The Royals are potentially going to be buyers, so why can’t the Braves be?

If Atlanta starts to falter, they’ll absolutely begin selling guys off and Jaime Garcia should be at the top of that list if it does happen.
