Royals Rumors: Potential starting pitchers on market for 2017 deadline
MARCO ESTRADA (TORONTO BLUE JAYS)
4-6 record, 5.17 ERA, 1.436 WHIP (Free agent in 2018)
This is another name that I have seen Royals fans really wanting the team to trade for and after the Jose Quintana deal occurred on Thursday, it’s safe to say that this is yet another trade that won’t be happening for Kansas City.
It’d be cool to see the Royals add Estrada, but his stats this year are not good.
Marco Estrada might be having an extremely down year, but he has the ability to be an incredible starter in the league. He’s owned the Royals in the past and will instantly make whatever team acquires him a contender in the playoffs.
Estrada will hit free agency after this season, so he’d be a rental player, which could potentially make him a bit cheaper for whatever team is seeking his talents. It’d be cool to see the Royals add Estrada, but his stats this year are not good. Do the Royals really want a pitcher with an ERA over five to be apart of their rotation?
Sometimes it’s not worth going after a “big name player”, especially when their stats aren’t very impressive. Marco Estrada is a perfect example of that.
