Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp Preview
Parker Ehinger – Left Guard
The biggest question on the Kansas City Chiefs offensive line is at left guard. The Chiefs are hoping that last year’s 4th round pick Parker Ehinger can return to form, and do so by Training Camp. Ehinger showed a lot of promise last year before he went down with an injury. Now he’s a little behind the curve coming into his second season.
Parker Ehinger appeared to pick up on things quickly last year. As a convert from tackle to guard, the Chiefs were asking a lot of him early on. There were some initial struggles, but it appeared that he had taken a drastic step forward before his injury.
Unfortunately, we won’t know where Parker Ehinger is at until he can get back on the field. Ehinger has been active on social media, letting fans know that he’s working hard to get back as soon as possible. However, it’s looking unlikely that it will be at the start of Training Camp.
The Chiefs do have some competition for Parker Ehinger as well. Zach Fulton played pretty well when he stepped in for Ehinger in 2016. He will certainly get a shot to try and reclaim that job in camp this year. That will be a tough battle for Ehinger to win.
Prediction
After a slow start, I do think that Parker Ehinger reclaims his starting job on the offensive line. The promise that he showed last year should be enough for the Chiefs to give him a real shot at getting his job back. It may not happen right away, but I think the better player eventually wins out…and that’s Parker Ehinger in my book.
