The Kansas City Chiefs will kick off their 2017 Training Camp on July 28th. Between now and then, we will break down all of the upcoming position battles. Next to go under the microscope will be the wide receiver corps.

We are breaking down every position on the roster for the Kansas City Chiefs 2017 Training Camp, and up next is the wide receiver corps. This has been a much-maligned group over the past couple of…well, when has it not been? The Chiefs simply don’t utilize the outside passing game much. That may change (in the future), but for now this is what we’ve got.

Frankly, I would be lying if I said you had any real reason to be excited about the Chiefs wide receivers this year. You can tell me all you want about how great Tyreek Hill can be, or that this will be the year Chris Conley puts it together. However, the simple truth is that no receiver on this roster has ever had more than 600 yards in a season.

Sure, there is some potential with this group. I mean, there would have to be when you consider the most experienced of the bunch is 24 year old Albert Wilson coming into his fourth season. If that’s enough to soothe your angst with the wide receivers, well you are a special breed my friend.

There is little to no proven capability with the Chiefs wide receivers in 2017. There is plenty of hope, faith, potential, and warm fuzzies, but nothing proven. Of course, that was the crux of why the Jeremy Maclin release was met with so much anger and dismay.

The cupboard looks pretty bare here, but you never know when someone is going to put it all together. As I said, there is potential with this group. That’s what the Chiefs are going to have to be banking on if they want to get their offense going this year.

So what do the Kansas City Chiefs have to offer at wide receiver this year? Let’s take a look…
