Five Biggest Rivals – Number One: Missouri Tigers

No matter how long this rivalry ceases to exist, this will be the best rivalry that the Kansas Jayhawks have ever been apart of. Rank and talent never seemed to matter when these two teams played each other. A Missouri Tigers team completely scarce of talent could turn an undefeated Kansas Jayhawk team into losers by one game.

Let’s also not forget the finale of this great rivalry. When these teams played for the last bragging rights against the other school, the games were intense. It is really sad to see the rivalry end, and the fact that Bill Self is far from close to letting it resume.

Out of all of these teams, Missouri and Kansas had the best games and the most hate. These fans still rant at each other on Twitter and still hate each other with unrelenting resilience and they haven’t played against each other in a major sport in five years.

The classic rivalry should have never ended in the first place. Games against the Tigers at Arrowhead Stadium was a blast for KU football, especially during those Orange Bowl years. The basketball games were even bigger when they were played at the Hearnes Center and Allen Fieldhouse. I, for one, am very pro-rivalry resurgence, hopefully Bill Self can get on board as well.
