Hate always seems to be an unappealing term, but with some of these teams it is the element of great competition. The Kansas Jayhawks are like every other team and when it comes to hating their rivals, they are no exception.

Across the board, the Kansas Jayhawks have multiple rivals in basketball and football. Some are stronger in some sports and in others not so much. What creates great rivalries is competition, passionate fans, and pure hate. Mostly though, it is the fans. From boiling blue blood to the waving banners of black and yellow, the rivalry is all about the fans.

One person may argue that their point guard is better than the other, or that one quarterback excels far beyond what the opposing team can muster. The constant Twitter battles and embarrassing drunken fans ranting at each other. A team that usually is considered a underdog can become a coin toss matchup with one factor: pure hate.

This is why rivalries create the best games in their respective sports. Just by hating each other teams bring excitement, uncertainty, and larger than usual media coverage. The Jayhawks have their share of premiere games involving rivalries. How about the final Border Showdown? The overtime win against Texas in KU Football?

Even opponents see their chances increase when they play the Jayhawks as a rival. Hilton Magic in Ames, Iowa? The Octagon of Doom in Manhattan, Kansas? Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri? Yes, the best games come from the best rivalries. Here are five teams that Jayhawk fans and players find repulsive.
