Kansas State all-time leaders in rushing yards: 7: Mike Lawrence (2,265)

Mike Lawrence played for Kansas State from 1994-1997, back when the university was the cream of the crop in college football. Lawrence, despite not having a 1,000 yard rushing season, is seventh all-time for K-State in rushing yards.

Lawrence’s best season came in 1996 where he took the football 209 times for 982 yards and ten touchdowns. That 1996 season was a 9-3 year for K-State and they eventually lost in the Cotton Bowl. Lawrence also had close to 200 yards receiving that year as well.

The following season, the hope was that Mike Lawrence would continue to be that kind of player for the Cats, but he didn’t fare nearly as well. KSU went 11-1, their best record ever, but Lawrence put up 605 yards on the ground that year with six touchdowns.

It was a bit of a letdown after his nearly 1,000 yard season in 96, but Lawrence was still effective. He didn’t make it to the NFL, but his 2,265 rushing yards are good for seventh all-time in Kansas State football history.
